Overview

Nestled in the vibrant Venice Piazza of McKinley Hill, Taguig, Kawa Ramen - McKinley Hill offers a satisfying Japanese dining experience that balances quality, affordability, and a lively atmosphere. This restaurant has quickly become a favored spot for ramen lovers and casual diners alike, drawn by its carefully crafted bowls and inviting ambiance.

The heart of Kawa Ramen’s menu lies in its rich variety of ramen options such as the classic Shoyu Ramen, the creamy and hearty Tonkotsu, and the boldly flavored Black Garlic. Each bowl delivers a distinct depth of taste, highlighted by broth that has been praised for its improvement to a thicker, more flavorful consistency. The noodles tend to be firm, providing the right bite that some diners appreciate, though a few have noted a slight undercooking. Beyond ramen, standout dishes like the Gyoza—crispy on the outside yet juicy within—add texture and variety to the meal experience.

For those looking beyond soup bowls, Kawa Ramen also serves comforting rice dishes such as the Chicken Teriyaki Bowl, Tendon, and Beef Gyudon. These options showcase a harmonious blend of savory sauces and tender meat cuts, making them filling choices for anyone seeking a hearty meal without breaking the bank. The Chicken Karaage, in particular, has been highly recommended for its generous portions and satisfying savoriness.

The restaurant’s space has evolved with its growing popularity. Recently expanded to accommodate more guests, it features a cozy yet lively atmosphere, enhanced by a live band corner that sets it apart from typical ramen shops. This upgrade makes Kawa Ramen ideal not only for solo diners and intimate family meals but also for larger groups, as the staff efficiently manage quick seating and prompt service even during busy times.

However, some visitors have found the air conditioning a bit too strong, occasionally affecting the meal’s warmth, especially dishes served in skillets. Still, attentive service and a welcoming environment make the overall experience enjoyable. Located conveniently in McKinley Hill, a hub known for its eclectic dining options, Kawa Ramen appeals to a broad audience—from office workers and families to food enthusiasts craving a taste of Japan’s beloved noodle soups.

In sum, Kawa Ramen - McKinley Hill is a noteworthy destination for those who seek authentic ramen flavors paired with a casual, vibrant dining setting. Its combination of flavorful broths, generous portions, and a lively yet comfortable space sets it apart in Metro Manila’s ever-growing Japanese food scene.

Food was great and affordable enough. The kawa spicy ramen was not that spicy, maybe around spice level 3 in the scale of Coco Ichiban. I strongly recommend the Chicken Karaage as they were savory and actually quite generous in terms of the quantity. Aircon could use some improvement though.

Tried their ramen via grab and it was good, but the noodles kinda firm. We ordered shoyu and the spicy ramen; both were good. Spicy is really giving, which i like. The shoyu is simple and flavorful as well. Can’t go wrong with the flavor you’ll order. I also tried their tantanmen before, and from what I remembered, it’s tasty too.

Walked in as a group of 11 and was seated right away. Food was served quickly. The gyoza was really good, it was juicy but also crispy. I had the shoyu ramen which tasted really good as well, but the noodles seemed like they weren’t cooked enough. The room itself was so cold, we ordered a skillet and it cooled the food down too fast so some of the meat wasn’t properly cooked. Overall, I really appreciated how they were able to sit down such a large group and serve the food almost immediately without much confusion.

Kawa Ramen is my go-to affordable and filling ramen place! Ive been a fan ever since I ate at their McKinley branch few months ago. Recently dined with my family here and they improved their ramen! Thicker meat cuts, better broth, and still affordable! They also expanded this branch to accommodate more customers and it even features a live band corner. Good customer service as well and perfect ambiance if you want to dine by yourself or your loved ones. Makes me miss Japan! Thanks Kawa Ramen and keep up your good quality and service!

The ramen is not too creamy but the taste is legit. I would have preferred the noodles to be hard and the gyoza a bit bigger. The staff are friendly and place has a very good ambiance. Overall, the experience is very good.

One of the best ramen in the metro. I got their spiciest ramen they have. KAWA Spicy Ramen. Ramen: This one has one of the smokiest ramen soup I’ve ever had. The broth is so rich and the spicy kick is for flame-tongues like me. Smoky spicy but not over powering. You can taste all the little nuisances of the spice they used. This one get a 4.5/5 Atmosphere: is yet to be desired. The place smells like smoke and the exhaust may be broken or something but the smoke tends to stick on your clothing, specially if you’re wearing dark colored ones. 3/5 Value for money. The gyoza (5 pcs) for 215 is great value for money although it’s a little hard and little to my liking 1-2 bites. 280 for the Kawa spicy ramen is super great bang-for-your-buck ramen. 4/5 Total for me is 4.5/5 in total. A true bang-for-your-buck type of ramen place especially for the price. This is one of those I recommend for those ramen lovers on a budget.

Can’t believe I can still find a ramen resto that’s affordably priced in mckinley. I am not a Southie so I am not familiar with the offerings here but Kawa Ramen definitely hits the busog and quality factor. We ordered black garlic ramen and chicken teriyaki with additional gyoza and iced tea. All were really satisfying. Black garlic has the umami flavor while the chicken teriyaki has the note of the grilled flavor while still tender. Of course, there are better ramen places out there that are DOUBLE++ its price but for someone who’s on a budget but want to satisfy the cravings, this will definitely hit the mark. If I would just find something to improve on - its definitely their iced tea! i prefer a more “house blend” type than mango-ish flavor. Skip this if you’re not into it. Service was good as they were attentive and fast. We went on a monday lunch time and its not crowded.
